Frequently Asked Questions

Do you offer culturally responsive therapy?

Yes. I work from a lens of cultural humility and curiosity, recognizing that identity, family systems, lived experiences, and social context shape mental health. Whether you identify as BIPOC or not, therapy is tailored to your unique background and values.

How does virtual therapy work, and is it as effective as in‑person sessions?

Virtual therapy is secure, flexible, and accessible. Many clients appreciate the comfort of meeting from home and the reduced travel time. Research shows virtual therapy can be just as effective as in‑person work, especially when the therapeutic relationship is strong.

What if I’m new to therapy or unsure what to talk about?

It’s completely normal to feel uncertain. You don’t need to arrive with a clear agenda. Think of yourself as the driver, and I’m the passenger. You ultimately direct us where to go, though I might point something out on the horizon that might be good for us to explore. It’s a collaborative process where we can build clarity together.

What is your cancellation policy and how do I pay?

I ask for 24 hours notice if you need to cancel or reschedule. Late cancellations or missed appointments are billed at the full session rate, as that time is reserved specifically for you. I understand that emergencies happen, and we can discuss exceptions when needed.

I accept Credit Card and E-Transfer payments.

What is your fee, and do you offer sliding‑scale or reduced‑rate spots?

I offer a standard session rate of $150/50-minute sessions, and I also reserve a limited number of sliding‑scale or reduced‑fee spots for clients who need financial flexibility. These spots are offered based on availability and are reviewed periodically to ensure equitable access. If cost is a concern, we can discuss options during your consultation.

Are your services covered by insurance?

My services are not covered by OHIP. However, many extended health plans cover psychotherapy provided by a Registered Psychotherapist. Coverage varies by provider, so it’s helpful to check your plan for details on reimbursement, session limits, and whether a doctor’s referral is required. I provide receipts you can submit directly to your insurer.

What if I find we’re not a good fit after our first session?

If you find that we’re not a good fit after all, I want to reassure you that this is so normal and valid and that it doesn’t mean that you failed therapy or that therapy isn’t for you. If we were to face this challenge, I would invite you to openly share your concerns with me about fit, see if we can collaborate together, and if not, I am more than happy to help you find a new therapist that better suits your needs! No-judgment, no-shaming, just a deep care for your needs.
